I believe that the condition of any society makes itself known through the arts - and then lives on through pop culture. Each generation expresses itself and reacts to the social climate in a way unique to it.
We are a culture picking through the trash of decades past, looking for something valuable mistakenly thrown away that we can build on.
This is my interpretation -- through art & commentary (and the occasional amusing link) -- of the decline of a civilisation that started drawing flies quite a while back.
